TMNT TURNS 30!
Hope you guys pick up the very special landmark issue this May 21, 2014, as it features quite a who's who of creators who've contributed in further enriching the already amazing life of the property.

And it is with the most ginormous honors to be included in such a historic publication! Major thanks+kudos to the always awesome folks at IDW, especially TMNT's radical Ed, Bobby Curnow, & Editor-Supreme / International Man of Mystery, Chris Ryall. I can't begin to believe I'm given all these unbelievable opportunities. To the original men with the plan, Kevin Eastman & Peter Laird, for creating one of the most enduring, and generations-defining pop culture icons. Inker & Writer supreme DEREK FRIDOLFS (Batman, Lil Gotham, Justice League Beyond, etc.) shares his process in crafting comics via his fun The Art Of Writing & The Writing About Art blog.

In the latest installment, he goes behind the conceptualization of the future incarnation of the FLASH, for DC's JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND title. Much thanks to Derek for also featuring my lil JLB Flash inspired craziness in the entry.

With great pleasure I can finally announce a gig I've been so excited for a while now:
The Hero Initiative in cooperation with Robert Kirkman, Skybound & Image Comics present THE WALKING DEAD 100 Project.

It's my BIGGEST of honors to be part of this, given my enjoyment of Kirkman, Adlard & company's zombie epic, as well as being able to once again partner with The Hero Initiative in providing assistance to creators in need. Though it'll be the awesome-mest to do even just an issue of Walking Dead, this cover already is a big personal win (& maybe a step closer to the book :) ).

There's a surprise on the left side of this cover that I'll reveal later (whoever guess it first gets a sketch request :) )
Hope you guys check it out.

Go to www.heroinitiative.org/ to find out more about The Hero Initiative & their efforts, more goodies, as well as how you can make a difference in the lives of creators worldwide.

IDW has just announced the next big event, INFESTATION 2, and with it, my latest project. Once again, they make not only 1 of my dreams come true: take part in an event, and work on 2 of some of my fave things, Lovecraft and TMNT. Can't get any bigger than this, elder gods squaring it off against the heroes in a half shell. I've so much love for the TMNT property, specifically the original gritty Mirage days. Can't thank everyone at IDW for another huge honor, especially with this coming off the heels of Zombies vs. Robots: Undercity. And to Nickelodeon for blessing me with their approval.

Written by uber talented writer/artist Tristan Jones (check out his Ghostbusters work), who also is a Mirage alumnus, so you guys know it's definitely gonna be special.

Here's the official announcement.

hey guys,

so excited to see CBR talking with IDW's Publisher/EIC/ChiefCreativeOfficer and overall man of mystery and awesomeness (and my most awesome collaborator) on the upcoming Zombies vs. Robots: Undercity series that we're doing. Much thanks to Chris for all the kind words, it's been both a blessing and a blast to be able to work with IDW on a project that I'm a big fan of, and just the process has been a dream right from the get-go, everything just came in so naturally. My only marching order from Chris was: Go Wild! 2 words that drive me to always give my best performance in every panel, page and issue. and we hope you pick up a copy of issue 1 when it hits stores this April. We're so proud of the immense amount of love and work we've put into making this series a most enjoyable, although crazy, ride:)

please check out the link for the whole story, as well as preview art from #1. enjoy!

Yeah, that's also the big news today, as the rockin' Zombies vs. Robots concept heads to film, with no less than acclaimed Michael Bay producing. Really is great to be onboard this dream project, and things will just be getting wilder from here. Here's the official news from IDW:

Post-Apocalyptic Comic Series to Be Co-Produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and IDW

IDW Publishing's popular ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS comic series is headed to Hollywood. The series, which was created by writer and IDW Chief Creative Officer Chris Ryall and artist/painter Ashley Wood and launched in 2006, has been acquired by Sony Pictures.

The film will be a co-production between IDW, Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes, and Circle of Confusion. IDW CEO and co-founder Ted Adams will produce, alongside Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Dave Alpert, and Rick Jacobs.

In the ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS comic series, the last remaining human in the world is protected by an assortment of robots against overwhelming zombie hordes. When the robots mistakenly expose the human infant's presence to the zombies, it leads to an all-out battle for the survival of mankind. The series takes a playful look at a far-fetched concept, resulting in something that transcends the usual "vs" approach. Subsequent series include Zombies vs Robots vs Amazons, also illustrated by Wood, as well as Zombies vs Robots: Aventure, a series that presented three separate prequel stories. The ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS world also played a major role in IDW's first-ever event series, INFESTATION, and an all-new ZOMBIES VS ROBOTS series subtitled "UnderCity," with art by Mark Torres, launches in April.

Also, in case you haven't made your preorders yet for the upcoming ZVR:Undercity #1 (of4) I'm doing with co-creator Chris Ryall, here's the solicitation text:

Zombies vs Robots Returns in April!
ZOMBIES VS. ROBOTS: UNDERCITY #1
Chris Ryall (w) • Mark Torres (a) • Torres, Garry Brown (c)

The Infestation is over, but the zombies remain! The robotforces are losing the war against these rotting masses, whichleaves only one choice-head underground... never mind the fact thata possibly even greater threat is looming in the survivors'UnderCity shelter! All-new zombie-on-robot carnage by Ryall and artist Mark Torres!

And amidst the great news that is ZVR going to film, deeply saddened by the shocking passing of respected and long time veteran, DWAYNE MCDUFFIE. I came to know him thru the old but definitely fantastic Deathlok series he did w/ regular partner Denys Cowan and just followed to the very unique Milestone line and the great animated features. Such a great visionary, and a big loss to the industry.
