mr.freeze and the bat

okay, so i was again taking a lil breather from my forever "project" when i thought of sketching out. my sight glanced at my toy shelves and happened upon the beautiful Mr. Freeze from the Batman animated. always loved how Jeff Matsuda and company reinterpreted most of the Bat characters, specifically Mr. Freeze...there's just something so contemporary, yet classic on the design and feel.

so while i initially planned on inking the piece, i decided to scan it over as is, and just take coloring from there over PainterX. but it wasnt working out pretty much as how i envisioned it. so, i thought, hey, i was always fond of the animated stuff, and that brilliant fellow that goes by the name CHEEKS does some crazy magic like that. i studied his approach, then decided to play around with Photoshop to see if i can capture the feel/fluidity. trial and error, and i suddenly just begun building up the piece from a few layers, when i noticed...HEY, I MAY BE ON TO SOMETHING HERE.

and so, this piece was born. really love how it all played out. it's a big step from what i normally do (graphic, bold...dark!). and i think it shows off some versatility from me. hmmm...i might be doing some more of this down the line.
