been a big fan of James O Barr's haunting work, The Crow. got introduced to it through the late, great Brandon Lee's portrayal in the first movie. really love how the gothic nature of the story married seamlessly the very deep emotional drama sorrounding not only Eric and Shelly, but also of those around them. really solid stuff...
too bad the concept got watered down after each release of sequels that were obviously trying hard to live up to the high bar set by the original. not any of em came close, and don't get me started on that fugly, brainfart Crow movie that starred former teen star from Terminator (i don't even care to google down his name! hahahah)
oh, and the Kitchen Sink comics were equally done in good respect to James original work. not to mention, it did premiered one of the more atmospheric black and whites from an unknown talented artist that goes by the name Alex Maleev...hmmm, i hear he's been drawing Marvelous images eversince. heheheh!!!
unfortunately, i haven't been able to read the original book. yes, sad. i've been checking for a way to reorder it, but to no avail.
if ever any of you's have the original book, and willing to share that masterpiece, then i can probably send you something back for the biggie favor...a special commission maybe, or some neat stuff from here in Manila.
wishful thinking eh!
hope you guys enjoy the art!
PS: this piece is also dedicated to my long time bud, (aka Roister, who shoots fantastic images, go check out his DAsite. NOW!, who's quite the big Eric Draven-Brandon Lee fan as well! those were the times, brother!
