how are you guys in the year 2009?

hope everyone's doing fine and healthy.
here's a lil something i sketched last december...and when i saw it in my sketchpad, i had the urged to ink and just play round with it.

the idea, just toyed with making spawn a she...
although i don't follow the Spawn comic, i still think the design's fun to draw, it has that gothic superhero-ish aesthetic to it...sorta like a mix of Spidey+Doc Strange.

anyways, anybody read the reboot issues...with Todd Mac and Whilce Portacio on the steering wheel? saw some preview art before and i think it looks pretty promising...don't know bout the story though. let me know what you boys and girls think bout it.

I usually approach my art without being too conscious bout how to execute it from concept to final...that way I keep a more natural and raw feel to it.

I only really like Hellspawn. I think Spawn is a great visual when drawn in a style other than mainstream. Which is why this pic rocks.

i love Hellspawn as well!
that was quite groundbreaking and just gave us a fresher, more twisted look at the Spawnverse. and it made 2 people industry treasures...Brian Bendis and Ashley Wood. another duo would later be products of this book...Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith.

although I wasn't able to stick around to know how the title ended...just basically collected the Ash Wood run. how did it ended?

I dunno! Last issue I picked up was (I think) a joint Bendis/Niles scripted story, with some kind of gorilla thing. I find it hard to get past the gorilla appearances in comics...
