Death spread

here's a lil something i did as a quick sketch while taking a break from the military project i've been working on for some time now.

i really liked how the sketch just worked itself up, and i think the final blueline art looks really cute. seeing as how enamored i was with it, i decided to put ink over it, and just render the it off to an actual artwork.

problem was, there was a lil "incident" that i got a bit upset bout, and unfortunately, that carried off while i was applying ink over the pencils. and i really wasn't too happy with the final piece. turned the cute drawing into something "crude". i tried salvaging the inked piece with digital painting...but still to no avail.

finally, after 2 days (and getting over being upset) i decided to give it another go, since i don't want it to totally go to waste. i think somehow i was able to save it.

lesson for everyone: don't work when upset

i'm giving you guys a look at how the more cutesy blueline art compares to the darker finished project (yep, those are skulls in the clouds/smokes...she is DEATH after all

Death: The High Cost of Living was one of my first comics that introduced me to the wicked world of Vertigo Comics, and eventually all the sick and brilliant Brit writers. this was where i met the talented Mr. Gaiman, and fell in love with his storytelling.
